How to Register an Amazon Seller Account and Dealing with Account Suspension due to Seller Identity Verification and Seller Performance Review
A number of people are unsure of how to register an Amazon Seller Account.
Some also face seller account suspension after registration due to Seller Identity Verification (SIV) and/or Seller Performance Review (SPR).
I used to be contacted almost daily by people telling me their seller account was suspended when they tried to register and asking me what to do.
Through my relationship with Amazon Global Selling management, a division of Amazon North America that oversees sellers from Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand who sell on Amazon Seller Central North America (comprising the US, Canadian and Mexican marketplaces), I used to connect anyone facing suspension due to SIV or SPR, directly with Amazon management and the issue was usually resolved within a week.
Prior to 2022 a large percentage of seller registrations were automatically suspended as the verifications were largely handled by a bot that often had trouble with verifying the documents uploaded for registration, such as the applicant's passport, bank statement, and utility bill.
Thankfully, these issues have been greatly reduce since 2022 as the account verification process is now handled by a human account manager over a video call.
